AWESOME ... It will happen again!!
Hey ...
I'm thinking about continuing to use this space over the next 10 or so months to brain storm ideas for next LARRYCON!
First off ... the dates ... I'm thinking mid July ... maybe the 15th through the 17th??
I am thinking of running a 3D (hirst arts) classic dungeon crawl perhaps ... or maybe a fate mod up. My hope is this year we have a few more folks from out of town and a few more folks from in our area. Maybe we can get 30 people or so.
I'm thinking of using the library for perhaps the Saturday gaming festivities ... if we have critical mass that is and I don't get hit by a bus between now and then :)
This year I'd like to do a scheduled Friday eve slot and perhaps a breakfast at a local restaurant or something on the way over to the library. I liked the Saturday BBQ party game component ... so perhaps we can do that again after the library (we'd have the library from 10 AM to 5 PM).
It seems like the serious deeper RP stuff would likely work better on Friday. So perhaps this time around we can even do something on Thursday eve and then do indie stuff on Friday during the day through the evening. Then do more light hearted fun stuff on Sat (board games, 4e, etc. etc.) and then just do zanny, pure fun stuff on Sunday (the 3D dungeon, really lite stuff, lite board games, party games, etc. ... as by Sunday everyone starts to get punchy).

Changes to the Lineup
I have made some changes to the set of games that I will be running at Larrycon. Do You Worship Chtulhu is still on the table, I just need to do some work on it to make the social rules work the way I want them to. The game will be a beta run of the social rules so I'll be depending on feedback from all of you.
Tunnels and Trolls will still be run, but I'll be running a module rather than an original dungeon. I just don't have the time to make one from scratch and assure that the other games get done. The game is open to anyone who wants to play and there is no upper end. It could easily accomodate (and kill) up to 10 players with just a little tweaking on my part.
I will be running two sessions of Awesome Adventures rather than a Savage Worlds game. Awesome Adventures is a game based on the Award Winning FATE rules. It is fast paced, open eneded, and over the top fun. I am looking to run two different adventures in a pulp-era setting. Punching Nazis is really satisfying so I'll work some of that in.
At Larry's request I will also have a D&D 4e mod that I have written ready to run if there is time. I will have pregenerated 1st level characters for it, but if you have a favorite character in the 1-4 level range, bring it.
I am really looking forward to playing with all of you.

LARRYCON!! Tentative Schedule (repost)
Ok folks here is whats on the agenda so far ....
7 PM to whenever ....
My friends fly in from Vegas early Friday afternoon and I'll pick them up at the airport ... then we'll make our way to the grocery story and likely liquor store and probably be back to my place around 3 PM that afternoon (Friday May 28th) at which point I'll give them 30 minutes or so to get their gear stowed away and then we'll probably fire up a board game or something. So if people would like to show up as early as 3:00 to 3:30 that afternoon we'll have a meet and greet BS session/casual board game session.
Around 6 I'd like to fire up the grill and do some grilling and get a little pot-luck style dinner going ... anyone is welcome to show up ... at least bring some soda and/or chips, etc. with you but if you have a specialty dish you'd like to share with the group let me know and I'll put it on the menu. I'll be providing some pasta salad, potato salad, chips and salsa, hamburgers and hot dogs. You guys are responsible for your own beverages ... soda ... beer ... margaritas ... whatever you want.
I will outline a rough schedule of events here, what I'm looking for at this point is to get feedback from people on who can attend and what sessions you will be attending. My friend Scott has been running very successful, popular games at game conventions and Las Vegas area gamesdays for several years now. He will be running several different games that I guarantee will be some of the best RPGing you've ever had and well worth any RPG fans time. In addition to that I'm hoping to get some of the local talent up here to run a few games if they'd like so anyone out there who is interested in running a game let me know and lets get you on the agenda. Also if someone wants to bring a board game or a miniature game or something that would be cool as well. The main thing I would ask is whatever someone wanted to run could be done within one of the time slots which will be from 9 AM to 5 or 6 PM (just depending on the game) or from 7 PM to whenever (again depending on the game) on Saturday or Sunday. I'm blocking Friday evening out for mainly one big group activity. Also at this point what I'm listing for Scott is tentative ... he actually might try to run a FATE based game or two instead ... just depends.
Friday May 28th:
That evening we'll be playing:
Do You Worship Cthulhu? - DYWC is a Lovecraftian take on the classic child's game of Mafia. You play a resident of a small town where murderous worshippers of the Old Ones have set up shop. One by one they slay your comrades driving you into a hysterical state of paranoia. Each morning someone is murdered and each night, the townsfolk lynch one of their own in a effort to find the killer. I have written some social roles for the game in an effort to bring some role-playing elements and to eliminate the stalling that can happen when there is no clear suspect to accuse.
In addition James will be running ACTION CASTLE for folks when they inevitably die off as Cthulhu progresses. I'll leave discription of Action Castle to James ... in a nutshell its a pen and paper homage to old school text based M.U.D style games. Zork is frequently the reference used to explain roughly what the game is about. From what I've heard its hilarious fun. It will give the dead from Cthulhu something to do in the afterlife :)
After these games end we can either do a round 2 of them if there is interest or we can do BANG! or Shadows over Camelot.
Saturday May 29th:
Saturday morning Scott is going to be running a game of 4E and I'm hoping to get our resident Star Wars GM James to come over and run a game of Star Wars for my other two Vegas compadres (Robin and Jason) and anyone from up here who would like to try out the coolness which is Saga system. Scott is just about the best 4E DM I think you'll ever get a chance to play for so I'm really hoping that the current 4E crew will get a chance to experience his game. It will be brutal and fun and hopefully enlightening in terms of just what one can actually do with 4E. I'm excited to get a chance to play. James is a real Star Wars aficionado with a wealth of background information on the Star Wars universe that he brings to his game and the Saga System is really clean and cool its something in between 3.5 and 4E and thus far I've very much enjoyed playing. So hopefully folks out there who would like to test the system out can have a chance to do so.
Saturday night Scott is going to be running an old school classic game Tunnels and Trolls which has been around since 1975. It really captures that old school original D&D feel with some surprisingly indie game-esq mechanics. The first time I played it immediatly became one of my all time favorite RPGs ... I'd still rank it in the top 10 best RPG systems I've personally ever played.
Anyway here is Scott's blurb on his game:
Tunnels and Trolls: The Dungeon of Excess - This is old-school meat grinder gaming at it's best. T&T is a simple system with great open-ended mechanics. The Dungeon of Excess awaits any who want to plumb the unfathomable depths. Can you survive the dreaded Ball Lightning?
If we have the numbers and there is someone who'd like to run something else there is room for a second slot here of something. However Scott's game will be able to accommodate up to maybe as many 8 to 10 players ... as its a big free for all style adventure. Also T&T handles large groups better than most RPGs due to an extremely sleek combat system. Anyway if anyone out there would like to run something in this time slot just chime in and I'll get it on the agenda.
Sunday May 30th:
9 AM to 5 to 6ish (with a break for lunch)
I believe that Rustin is planning on running something Sunday morning and the Vegas crew and myself will likely partake in that ... but if there is interest there is room here for a second slot of something as well so if you'd like to run something just chime in and I'll get it on the agenda.
7 PM to whenever ....
Savage Worlds: The Incident at Station 11 - The Federation lost contact with the scientists at Station 11 on the planet Gareth several months ago. Your crew was sent to check things out and find out what happened and if everything is okay. It probably isn't okay. In fact, what happened there probably can't be imagined in your worst nightmares.
Again if there is interest and numbers there is space available here for someone to run something if they'd like ... just let me know if you are interested in running something.

Games I am planning on running
Howdy.
My name is Scott.
I am one of Larry's friends from Las Vegas and I will be attending Larrycon 1 with all of you. I have been planning to run some games there to introduce y'all to a few different things. A couple of the games will also be playtests that I'll need your feedback on.

LARRYCON MENU (for those guests that will be staying at Casa De LOE)
Menu -
For those folks coming in from out of town (and staying at my place) ... I'm doing up a menu for the standard meals. We are going to be running this con style with gaming in time slots then a break time. We really won't have huge amounts of time to go run and get food, etc. for the locals that might be the best option though ... grab some fast food ... pizza or whatever. We will be doing at least one Subway run during the con (inside joke). Anyway here goes:
Breakfast will consist of eggs, toast, coffee ... if people would like fresh fruit, oat meal, pancakes and/or waffles as well.
Lunch selections:
Rotini Pasta Salad -- Rotini Pasta, Black Olives (or Kalamata), Olive Oil, Parmesan cheese, Balsamic Vinegar, Tomatoes, Spinach, Fresh Cilantro, Fresh Parsley, various spices.
Vegetarian Chili -- Essentially standard LOE chili (secret recipe) with no meat, just beans and chili mix spices with onions, peppers, etc.
Various fresh bread and side items with each meal.
For dinners we can do a vegetarian spaghetti night as well as probably a fish/seafood night ... but I'll need more feedback on that and what I'll probably do for the fish night is take the out of towners up to the local market where you guys can select your own delectable items for the evening grilling (that should take care of Sat and Sun). Friday evening I'm hoping to do kind of a Pot-Luck type deal with the grill going ... we'll probably do some veg-kabobs, salads, etc.
You guys will have access to the kitchen as well and can feel free to buy whatever you'd like to make for yourselves as well, I have a second full sized fridge in the garage so there will be plenty of room for extra booze and food. So if you want to cook up some complimentary vegi items (or for Jason cheap frozen meat laden items) ... feel free ... but I'll provide enough food to sustain you though the weekend minus snacks, etc. for that you'll want to grab stuff at the store (and of course for that we can do as many store runs as you guys need)

Breakdown on the time slots:
Breakdown on the time slots:
Friday Evening -- Tunnels and Trolls or Do you worship Cthulhu ...
Saturday 9 AM to 12 (lunch) ... 1 to 4 (all one time slot)
Saturday 6 PM to whenever
Sunday 9 AM to 12 (lunch) ... 1 to 4 (all one time slot)
Sunday 6 PM to whenever
In essence we have five slots to fill ... my hope is we can do two sessions on a few of the slots. But that means we'll need 2 to 4 more people to attend than we have confirmed at this point.
I will run Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 3rd ... IF ... we need it ... I could also run a Necessary Evil/Savage Supers game ... again if we need it. At this point I believe we have a lot more games that are lined up than we have players for ... so I'll keep my stuff available in the event we need a 3rd session in a game ... which could happen if everyone in the gaming group showed up. Our best case attendance is about 14 people ... our worst case would be 6.
